Baptism Sunday

It was something I had been wanting to do for about for the past eight years. Ever since I first started thinking about what it means to be baptized, what it represents, and what scripture says about it, I’ve known that one day I would need to do it. Over the past 10 months I’ve been taking a class at my church that studies the foundations of Christianity and one of the topics we thoroughly looked at was baptism.  Jesus not only commanded us to “repent and be baptized”, but he also modeled baptism for us. It didn’t matter if the timing was perfect or not, when it came down to it for me personally, deciding to be baptized now was just an act of obedience. Being obedient to something I felt I was being commanded to do.

So now after 10 months I am finally at the end of my Discipleship 101 class! It has been months full of classes every Wednesday night, homework, memory work, and tests, but I have learned SO much and am so thankful for the experience. I have my final interview with one of the pastors tonight before being confirmed in a couple weeks, so I thought today was an appropriate day to share the follow video testimony and my baptism. There are so many more pieces of my testimony than what I shared in the video, which may make it onto the blog some day in the future, but for me it all started as freshman in college, and its been so crazy to see how drastically my life has changed since that moment. completely 100% for the better. I am so glad that God decided to surround me with the people he did as a freshman at CNU, and for the friends he has brought into my life since then.

So the following moment is 8 years in the making. Thank you to all of the friends, mentors, young life kids, teammates, counselors, and pastors who have shown me what a relationship with the Lord looks like and encouraged me to rely on Him more every day.

“But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved.” – Ephesians 2:4-5
