It's lovely to meet you!

I believe that real moments are far better than staged ones. I believe in marriages being infinitely more beautiful than the wedding day. I believe in photographing stories in natural, comfortable environments. I believe you should have people in your life that make you laugh until you cry. I believe that a good portrait should make you feel something. I believe that in most situations cheesecake and/or Disney can be used as excellent coping strategies. I believe that there is power in a handwritten note. I believe that there is so much joy to be found in the little every day moments that we often take for granted, and that it’s my privilege to document them.

This business began back in 2006, and for the past 17 years clients have allowed me into their lives and into some of their most precious moments. It is my job to take beautiful portraits, yes, but I also believe that it’s my job to support and encourage the relationships in front of my camera. I want to capture photographs where you can hear the laughter, feel the emotion, and share the joy as if you were right there next to me when I took it. I always want to photograph you in an honest, artful way that results in genuine portraits that feel so true to YOU. If it sounds like we would be a good match, head on over to the contact form and drop me a note! I would absolutely love to hear from you!

Delightfully,

Jessie

Writing Gifts

A few years ago I took Ann Voskamp’s challenge to name 1,000 gifts. One thousand ways that God shows up in the little, seemingly unimportant moments that happen every day. I reached 1,000 after just a few months, and now over 2 years and 4 months later I have 4 journals full of TEN thousand gifts. 10,000! My God is so very gracious with me.” “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His love endures forever.” – Psalm 106:1

 Chai Tea Lattes

Chai tea lattes are one of my favorite discoveries. I’ve never had a cup of coffee in my life (really!), but I would LOVE to chat and get to know you over a cup of chai tea! The best one I’ve had is at Shoes, my favorite little coffee shop in downtown Leesburg.

World wide TRAVEL

Traveling holds such a big place in my heart. I’ve always loved flying and have a goal to see at least one new place each year. I’ve gotten to see London, Paris, Jamaica, Mexico, Grand Cayman Island, Italy, Hawaii, Dominican Republic, and so many of the most gorgeous cities across the USA. So far, Italy holds the keys to my heart. I’ve been able to explore a big handful of cities all over Italy and each one was better than the last. The countryside in Tuscany will be hard to beat, but I’m up for the challenge! Bonus points if there are mountains involved. Oh darling, lets be adventurers...

Aunt Jessie

I think I’m most “in my element” around kids. I have always LOVED children, and my “happy place” is definitely snuggling a sleeping baby. I’m ridiculously lucky to have almost a dozen little ones in my life that call me “Aunt Jessie”, and they are some of my favorite people in the world. Few things brighten up a bad day like time with these loves. Being their ‘Aunt Jessie” will always be my most favorite job ever.

Music

Few things fill my soul like music does. I grew up singing, and time sitting at the piano is my favorite form of therapy. The music and magic that exists in the broadway world especially has captured my heart these past few years. There’s nothing like live theater. It’s incredible to me when a show can transport you to a place beyond your wildest imagination right in front of your eyes… but good gosh I’m so thankful for pieces of brilliant theater that address real life head on in the most relatable, honest, beautiful ways. The vulnerability of live theater is unreal. What a gift.

Disney World

I’m 100% convinced I will never outgrow Disney World. The atmosphere, the people, the food, the fireworks and parades, the music... I love it all! They pay attention to EVERY single little detail and make sure its all done with such excellence. Watching someone experience the magic for the first time always brings tears to my eyes. Faith, trust, and pixie dust, folks!

Chocolate chip cookies

Warm chocolate chip cookies buried in vanilla ice cream is my absolute favorite dessert and my own little piece of heaven on earth. It’s my weakness and pretty much the only reason why I’m at the gym every day... So. Worth. It.

handwritten notes

Handwritten notes are my MOST favorite thing to receive! I believe there is such power in a handwritten card or letter. ‘Words of Affirmation’ is one of my top love languages, and few things mean more to me than intentional, well thought out handwritten words. I have a few shelves in my closet that display all of my most special handwritten notes I’ve received over the years, and it’s one of my favorite things to see every day.
