the view from the front

Every time I’m able to photograph someone’s wedding there are specific moments throughout the day that I look forward to the most. The bride putting her dress on; the moment it actually becomes real. The pride on her fathers face as he walks her down the aisle. The look of joy on their faces as they walk back down the aisle, officially husband and wife. The first dance, where they take a minute or two to just be close to one another. Last but certainly not least, the father/daughter dance.. it gets me EVERY time. Those are all moments that I typically get a front seat for as the photographer, then the rest of the day I get to stay in the background and capture things as they unfold throughout the day. Especially during the ceremony; once I make sure to get those first key shots, I find my spot in the back and always try and take a minute to listen to the vows being made and pray for the couple. This past weekend, my view was a little different…

When Alison asked me to be a bridesmaid back in August I was thrilled, and it was such an honor to stand up there next to her as she married Manny this past weekend. For the first time since I’ve become a photographer, I got to stand up at the front of the church, and that new perspective was pretty incredible. To be able to look out and see a countless number of faces, all of whom love and support my friends… but mostly, to be close enough to see the look on Manny’s face as he promised to love, cherish, and always be leading my sweet friend closer to Jesus for the rest of his life was by far the best part of the day. As much as I LOVE my job and little seat in the back, the view from the front was pretty amazing too :0)

While I was on official bridesmaid duty for the past 4 days (hence the lack of blog posts!) Katelyn and Michael worked their magic behind the camera and photographed Ali and Manny’s wedding day. Katelyn shared some preview pictures with everyone at the wedding yesterday and I can’t WAIT to see the rest of them on her blog later this week! Thanks for letting me share this one kk :0)

Ali and Manny, thanks so much for choosing me to be one of the people standing next to you. I love you both and could not be happier for you! Have a fabulous time in Jamaica! :0)
