Katie & Cedar Belle – Lavender Farm Portraits

“She’s got the world at her fingertips
she makes beauty look effortless
& I want everything she is.”
– Ben Rector
Back in March when Katie and I were in Florida, she and I were talking about the importance of shooting for yourself and photographing things that truly inspire me.  I shared with her that I had this vision of doing a “mommy & me” portrait session in a lavender field. I wanted it to have a very simple, easy feel to it. No big props, just the natural beauty that happens in a relationship between a mama and her baby. When I asked Katie if she and Cedar Belle would be interested, she didn’t hesitate for a moment. I think after all these years she is used to all of my crazy photo ideas :) I had seen Seven Oaks Lavender Farm online and knew it would be the perfect spot, and last week they let us come in after they closed so we had the whole place to ourselves. This session was everything I’d hoped it would be and more. I can’t wait for Cedar to look through these photos one day and see how loved she is by her beautiful mama. I think every mama needs photos with their babies, and I loved getting to really focus on that for a couple hours. Katie, thanks for always being willing to play along and for sharing your Homegirl with me for the evening! I hope you can see how beautiful Cedar Belle (and the rest of the world) thinks you are in these images :) Love you both dearly!

Incase you couldn’t tell in these first few images, CBelle makes the BEST facial expressions! She’s either smiling at you with all her might, or (as seen in that first photo and the one below) she’s looking at you like you need to get it together ;) Both options never fail to make me smile!one of my favorites :) motherhood looks SO good on you, my friend :)this little farm kitty so badly wanted to be in the session too:oh dear goodness. i can’t even handle the cuteness. Seven Oaks has a little bunny pen and they let us hold one of the little 3 month old babies! Cedar really wasn’t too sure about him, but she also didn’t seem too phased by him either :) Happy Thursday :)

    Hi Jessie!

I was wondering if you did senior portraits? I am a senior and love your images, I was wondering how much you would barge if you were to docmt senior shoots at the poppies farm that you did Mrs. Covert at.

    Thanks so much,
    Yusra shoaib

I work with one of Cedar Belle’s (great :-) aunties; she shared these stunning photos. Lovely subjects, of course, magical setting, and a talented photographer who wraps personal warmth and vision into her work. And you’re right, the obvious mom and baby love only makes the photos more beautiful.
