For photographers, there’s a different type of session that each one of us prefers. Some prefer weddings and couldn’t imagine chasing a 2 year old around to get pictures, when they’re used to adult couples that they don’t have to chase (or bribe ;0) ) Other photographers can’t imagine photographing a wedding and the pressure that comes with it. Everyone is different and has their own approach and style that they bring to the session. As for me? I couldn’t pick just one if I had to. There are elements of both that I love so much and I love being able to switch it up and have a totally different subject to capture; whether its the joy a couple feels on their wedding day, or the spunky personality of a two year old. I love that every time i photograph a couple or a family I am finding more of MY style and new things that I love about what I get to do for a living! Because of that, I’m attracting new clients who have a similar style and are excited for me to come in and photograph their lives; like Brooke and Alex. I’ve know that we would be a good fit since I sat down with Brooke and talked about life, art, and her sweet boy Jack. I saw Brooke’s smile continue to get a little bigger as I threw out ideas I had for different sessions and fun things we could do. I love clients with an adventurous spirit :0)
Jack is going to be a big brother here in just a few short months, but before the baby came we restructured the first year package a little bit to focus on Jack and celebrate his 2nd birthday! He is such a sweet, playful, smart boy and its going to be so fun watching him be a big brother! I can’t wait to see how much he will change in this next year! Brooke and Alex wanted to start the session off at home, and these are probably my favorite images from the session :0) Enjoy!
Little guys always take about 2.5 minutes to warm up to the camera, so we took a few of Dad and Mom (and her little baby bump!) in the mean time :0)
come just a liiiiiittle closer…Jack got his own little camera for easter, and apparently he thought he could do a better job ;0) gotcha!! definitely one of my favorites :0) we wanted to spend the session doing things that Jack would be excited about, so a trip to Smithfield Station was a must! Jack looooves boats! love this sweet moment, definitely the other favorite :0) Jack’s in a phase right now where he acts very shy around them camera.. i still think this one is pretty darn cute though ;0) so unfortunately, after this session Jack may love boats a little bit less.. as we were walking, Alex and Jack were in front of Brooke and I, and Brooke sees a big hose moving on the other side of a container sitting on the dock.. until she realizes that the hose is actually a SNAKE!!!!!! She screams and pushes Alex towards the snake to scoop up Jack real quick and both she and I both take off in the other direction! Normally I can handle creeppy crawley things and just dispose of them pretty quick, but if you know me at all you know I can’t even stand to LOOK at snakes. And this one was not some little wiggly worm, this was a big black snake! Normally I’m really good about grabbing Lauren or Sam real quick if there’s something like that that they shouldn’t be around, but apparently all my maternal instincts fly out the window when it comes to snakes! Poor Jack was a little shook up after that and absolutely would not let Dad put him down.. i don’t blame him! As we were leaving, Jack kept looking over his shoulder and around all the little corners where the snake was hiding the first time.. okay so maybe ALL of us were looking around the corners.. but if you’d seen the snake you woulda done the same thing! SO we left the snake invested dock and headed out to a field where there are no creepy crawley things. nope. not even one ;0) You know this two year old is EXTRA cool cause he has his own guitar :0) love, love, love :0) baby eye lashes melt my heart :0) like i said, we wanted to fill the session with things that Jack would enjoy doing.. so we decided to get a little messy :0) ah so THIS must be where the little orange finger print on my camera came from ;0) another favorite :0) don’t worry, those shirts didn’t stay white for long :0) hopefully Jack won’t go home and paint all over the rest of his clothes, cause he got a little excited when he realized it was okay to get it all over mom and dad this time :0) we’re going to do a full maternity session for Brooke in about a month, but we wanted to try and get a few of her with Jack during this one.. LOVE how this one turned out! these last two just make me smile :0) can’t wait to see you guys again soon!
