“Marry your best friend. I do not say that lightly. Really, truly, find the strongest, happiest friendship in the person you fall in love with. Someone who speaks highly of you. Someone you can laugh with. The kind of laugh that makes your belly ache, and your nose snort. The embarrassing, earnest, healing kind of laughs. Wit is important. Life is too short not to love someone who lets you be a fool with them. Make sure they are somebody who lets you cry too. Despair will come. Find someone that wants to be there with you through those times. Most importantly, marry the one that makes passion, love, and madness combine and course through you. A love that will never dilute, even when the waters get deep and dark.”
oh friends, i’ve got a good one for you today :) i’ve been looking forward to this wedding for years now. the last 12 years to be exact. i’ve been a part of jen’s family since 2005 (for lots of old fun photos you can click here and here and here and here) and she even said to me last sunday, “can you believe we’re here?! that i’m getting MARRIED and you’re photographing my wedding day?!” and while i completely understand where she’s coming from and can’t believe how fast the last 12 years have flown by, my honest response was “i absolutely can!” because i knew one day she would be the most stunning bride. that she would find a man like silas who loves her and is a perfect balance and compliment to all of jen’s strengths and talents. and that i would still very much be a part of their wonderful family whenever that day came. i wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
they had such a dream of a day. they, quite literally, got married in the clouds. we were up so high at silver hearth lodge, and it was such an overcast day, that by the time the ceremony came the fog and clouds were SO heavy around us it created the most dream-like atmosphere. we couldn’t have planned it if we tried! silas and jen, thank you for trusting me with such an important day and for letting me be a part of your family. i can’t wait to have you two in front of my camera for many, many years to come! :) xoxo! look who was the guest of honor! silas and jen’s dog chester! YOU. GUYS. how stunning is she?! and that gown, i seriously couldn’t get over how perfectly it suited her!chester tagged along for their first look to make sure i had picked a good spot :)seriously that fog behind them added SUCH a cool effect! this is always one of my favorite moments of the day :)they had their cheering section watching from a distance ;) this right here? this is what JOY looks like. this was definitely another favorite moment from their day. chester ran up and decided jen’s bouquet was better suited for him than her ;) love love LOVE!every now and then the clouds would move and we’d get a glimpse of the stunning view! also a HUGE thank you to my sweet friend carrie for assisting me for the day! so many of the photos in this post came from her camera, including these next two! :) it started pouring rain about 40 minutes before the ceremony started, but as soon as it cleared out silas and jen’s support team was ready to GO! they dried the chairs and cleared the ceremony site in no time!the two most handsome ring bearers i’ve ever seen :) there may or may not have been a few tears of joy at this point in the ceremony… :)
the fog/clouds were literally getting thicker by the minute, by the time the ceremony was over you could hardly see a few feet in front of you! you’d never know by the smiles on their faces though :) since we got rained out earlier for the bridesmaids photos, and the fog was super heavy outside, we opted to use the fun twinkly lights inside for their photos instead! :)
if you’ve been around this blog for a while (or clicked on some of the links at the top of this page), you’ll recognize these faces! joyce, thank you SO much for all of your help with the set up and making the day as wonderful as it was! couldn’t have done it without you!so very thankful for you, sweet friend! i love that chester jumped in this last one :) and thank you carrie for the photo of julie and i too! it’s so special to me to have a few updated “family” pictures with some of my favorite people!
