So, my family is moving. My cousin Laura, my three (soon to be 4!) godkids, and her husband Bobby are moving. Now, this is not a new thing for their family. Bobby is in the Army and over the past six years I’ve visited them in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and currently California. I have been so lucky that I’ve gotten to visit them at least 3 times a year; especially when the kids are this little I want to be a part of their lives. I want them to know who “aunt jessie” is and have the kind of relationship with them that is more than just sending cards on their birthdays. I want to know them when they are little, so that when they get bigger they will call me on their own just to talk or tell me about their day. So they will come visit and get their own special week with me during the summers. So they will know that I’m on their side. So they will know that I’m completely crazy about them and would do anything for them.
But now they are moving. To Qatar.
Yes, you read that right. Qatar. All I know of Qatar has come from the internet, which as I’m sure you can imagine, is a dangerous game to play. They will be there for at least two years, unless the Army decides to change their minds, which is always a possibility. and since plane tickets to Qatar are not the most accessible (to say the least), I won’t get to see these precious faces for quite a while.
Can i be honest? i’m bummed. really bummed. these kids make my world better, and the thought of not seeing them for that long, or not meeting my goddaughter who is due in May until she is over 2 years old is heartbreaking. So what’s a fairy godmother to do? book an emergency trip out to California before they go!
So for this week, I’m soaking up every. single. moment i can with my family. Today I’m not focusing on the next two+ years, today I’m focusing on spending the day at DisneyLand riding roller coasters with little Bobby, chasing down princesses with Riley (literally, she will RUN after them if she sees one!), and spotting every single picture of Mickey Mouse Tanner and I can find.
So today is a happy day. aaaand we’ll worry about tomorrow, well, tomorrow :)
Happy Monday!
[…] down that one of them was meeting godbaby #4. At that point godbaby #4 could very well have been in Qatar this entire year, so it was a slightly dangerous goal to put in writing. I’m SO very happy […]
[…] I was looking through all of the images I took last week out in California I came across a theme. Just about every shot I have of the kids seems super close up. As in […]
Thank you for sharing with us. xoxoxo
Those kids are blessed to have such a wonderful aunt!
Oh, that’s terribly… overwhelming, for lack of a better word. I feel for you, Jessie. Enjoy your time with them and I hope that something changes to at least bring them back to you sooner.
I hope and pray they will be safe and sound while there and when they come back you can spoil the heck out of them. Enjoy each and every day/moment that you can with them.
