adding some green

I’ve never been a fan of vegetables. In fact my godson had a tshirt when he was little that said “Just Say NO to Veggies!” and I seriously contemplated buying one in my size. I could eat fruit all day long, but I’m terrible at eating vegetables. So when everyone started saying that you couldn’t taste the spinach in green smoothies, I was NOT convinced. Peanut butter, banana… and spinach?! Noooo thank you. I thought, there’s no way you could stuff that much spinach in a smoothie and not taste it! Well I finally gave it a try… and was proved WRONG. very wrong. this smoothie was packed with green stuff aaaand all i tasted was peanut butter and banana! go figure! :) So these green smoothies have become my most recent obsession, so much so that I thought I’d share my favorite combination!

1 cup milk or almond milk- can’t taste a difference when its all mixed together
1 frozen banana
1 scoop protein powder
1 tablespoon peanut butter (okay, so mine might be a heaping tablespoon.. but still :) )
two big handfuls of spinach, about as much as shown below

blend it all together, and enjoy! you can add ice if you want, but the frozen banana seems to work just fine!
I haven’t tried too many different recipes, do you have a favorite green smoothie?! Leave your favorite recipe in a comment if you have one! Happy Monday! :)

Do not store your spinach near your cilantro. Your smoothie WILL taste like cilantro and that is not a yummy taste for that meal. However, I added two strawberries to a similar mix as yours. I wasn’t a fan of peanut-butter + banana + strawberry + spinach + greek yogurt. However, the next day I took out the peanut butter and it tasted fine. All to say, if you add strawberry, I recommend taking out the peanut butter. :D

I love green smoothies!! I use the same recipe you listed, but skip the pb (I’d rather eat it with a spoon, haha). I used to make them all the time, but we recently got a juicer and we’ve been playing with that instead. I highly recommend one if you like fruit juice but not veggie – you can add spinach or romaine lettuce to the juicer (it turns the fruit juice a yucky brown color but tastes delicious). I hate carrots but love carrot juice…add a tart green apple + orange to any veggie juice combo and it covers up the taste. I love these posts! :)
