“Babies are soft. Anyone looking at them can see the tender, fragile skin and know it for the rose-leaf softness that invites a finger’s touch. But when you live with them and love them, you feel the softness going inward, the round-cheeked flesh wobbly as custard, the boneless splay of the tiny hands. Their joints are melted rubber, and even when you kiss them hard, in the passion of loving their existence, your lips sink down and seem never to find bone. Holding them against you, they melt and mold, as though they might at any moment flow back into your body.
But from the very start, there is that small streak of steel within each child. That thing that says “I am,” and forms the core of personality.”
― Diana Gabaldon, Dragonfly in Amber
Blog readers, meet Sophia! she’s got the most beautiful little features, and the cutest wrinkly toes around ;) and with those 6 little elbow wrinkles I absolutely melted into a puddle! Sophia has a head full of the most gorgeous dark hair, I couldn’t get enough of it! Love these two photos of Leah with her girl :) one of my absolute favorites! I know that every mama spends QUITE a bit of time rocking their babies, and I always love grabbing a picture in that particular spot :) love that wispy hair! the lace on Sophia’s quilt and bedskirt belonged to her grandmother, and were worked into the nursery as a sweet surprise for her and Leah :)
doesn’t it seem like she’s sleeping on a gigantic bed in this next photo even though she’s just in her crib?! itty bitty baby! she will be filling that space far too quickly! another favorite for sure :) Congratulations again! Can’t wait to see you all again soon! :) Happy Monday!
