I’m pretty sure every photographer out there has tried in one way or another to be published. Whether in a magazine like The Knot or on a blog like Wedding Chicks or Style Me Pretty (be careful, they’re addicting!) we try and figure out what they are looking for and then submit our work time and time again. Being published was more of a long term goal for me; not something that I put much time or effort into these days, but something that I looked forward to one day! A few months ago Carrie Chambers from The Knot contacted me asking for any tips for brides I might have regarding planning a wedding in the different seasons, anything from info on timeline to lighting. I didn’t think too much of it as I assumed that she sent the email to multiple photographers, since she had contacted me and not the other way around. Turns out she didn’t! She had just emailed me! Not only that, but she said that they wanted to use a few of my pictures for the article as well! So now a few months later I open up the latest issue of The Knot; DC, Maryland, and Virginia and there’s Lauren and Jeff and Allison and Tommy staring back at me! She even used a bunch of my timing tips and tricks for brides through her article! I was beyond honored that she would have sought me out to participate in this project, especially considering how many other fabulous photographers there are out there in this area! So make sure you go pick up a copy, even just for all the gorgeous eye candy thats packed into this edition!
