Clay and Jessica- First Anniversary Portrait Session

Well first of all, happy 2014!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are already excited for this new year! Jess and Clay’s session is actually my last session of 2013, so we’re not QUITE ready to move onto 2014 on the blog just yet :) When I made plans to visit my grandparents in Tennessee right after Christmas, I contacted Jess to see if she and Clay would be at their home in North Carolina at the same time. Thankfully our crazy schedules aligned and we were able to meet up at Windy Gap, one of Young Life’s gorgeous properties, to celebrate their first wedding anniversary with some new portraits!

You will remember their magical wedding at the Biltmore last December (click HERE for part 1 and HERE for part 2!), and it’s safe to say that marriage looks pretty darn good on these two! Jessica has even launched her own photography business over this past year, so you will have to make sure to check out her site too! It was beyond freezing the morning of their session, but my clients are such troopers and you’d never know based on these photos that it was only about 20 degrees outside! Jess and Clay, thank you for braving the cold to hang out with me and my camera, and once again for choosing me out of all the photographers out there to document these important seasons of your life :) This session was the best way possible to end the year! Enjoy lots of favorites! :)this guy was SO determined to be in their photos! Jess actually worked with the horses here at windy gap for the summer a few years back, so she knew just how to handle him :) … well if he’s not going to leave, at least he was willing to smile! ;) and look who else they brought!! Quinn came to their engagement photos too, and I’m so glad she tagged along this time too :) HA! this is exactly how kids look at me when parents do this to them too :) one of my favorites! love seeing her so happy :) how adorable is she?! and i was so tempted to run out a buy a scarf just like that as soon as i left! so warm and cozy :)on our way out Jess wanted to introduce Quinn to the horses for the first time before we left and I’m SO glad I tagged along :) i love this shot of her nose to nose with the horse for the first time :) Quinn spent about 30 seconds sniffing that horse and trying to figure it out, and then literally turned and walked over to the car. She wanted NOTHING to do with those horses, and sat by the car and waited until we got the hint that it was time to GO HOME! :) SO funny!  Happy Monday!
